This year, 50% of the net proceeds will go to SCAC and 50%
to CAMP Rehoboth. Both organizations are 501(c)(3) nonprofit
corporations, and your financial support of SUNDANCE is tax
deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
CAMP
Rehoboth
CAMP Rehoboth, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community service
organization, helps foster understanding and cooperation among
the many diverse groups who enjoy the Rehoboth Beach area
as residents and regular visitors. CAMP Rehoboth is housed
in the new community center (slated for expansion this Fall)
and its programs include CAMPsafe, an AIDS education
and prevention program, LETTERS From CAMP Rehoboth,
a bi-weekly magazine, the Womens Project of CAMP Rehoboth,
addressing issues of special interest to women in our community.
CAMP Rehoboth also helps raise funds for other organizations,
addressing issues such as AIDS, womens health issues,
and the arts, mediates community tensions, advocates for human
rights for all, provides sensitivity training for the Rehoboth
Beach Police, and promotes the Rehoboth Beach area regionally
and nationally as a great place to vacation and to call home.
In addition, the community center houses information and referral
activities; switchboard and hotline services; social and support
group meetings; forums addressing womens issues; a GLBT
youth group; health education and wellness programs; community
outreach; a GLBT lending library; social events; and office
space. Our vision remains: "The CAMP Rehoboth Community
Center is the Heart of the Community."
SCAC
The Sussex County AIDS Council (SCAC) was the first
agency in lower Delaware to respond to the financial needs
of persons with HIV infection or AIDS. Originally an all-volunteer
group that met in private homes, SCAC received 501(c)(3) nonprofit
status under the IRS Code in 1991. By 1994, SCAC opened its
first office and, two years later, purchased two small buildings
providing permanent space for testing and client counseling,
a food program, administrative offices, and the Resource Center.
SCACs full-time professional staff is supported by a
volunteer Board of Directors who actively participate in the
SCAC programs.
